Pastor Olatunji Daniels of Active Word Global Mission

I want to encourage all Christians to stay focused on our mission and vision as followers of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to teach the word of God with precision, accuracy, and balance as prescribed by the Holy Bible. This means we must approach our teaching with utmost care and dedication, ensuring that we are always aligned with the truth of God’s word.

Furthermore, our vision is to raise Active Word Practitioners. This should be our ultimate goal and driving force in everything we do. We must strive to not only teach the word, but also to live it out in our daily lives, becoming active practitioners of the word of God.

Let us remain steadfast in our commitment to these principles, always seeking to grow in our understanding and application of God’s word. By doing so, we will continue to fulfill our mission and vision, making a meaningful impact in the lives of our members and the community around us.

May we be encouraged and inspired by the mission and vision set before us, and may we continue to pursue them with passion and dedication.

Inspiring young people to read the Bible themselves

You are valued and loved, and your presence in our church is important.

The Bible is a unique and divinely inspired book that serves as the foundation for Christian life. However, both young people and adults often find it challenging to read and may not know where to start. As someone who has experienced this difficulty, I believe it is necessary to reflect on how we can help young people read God’s word so that they can recognize its importance in their lives.

One way to encourage young people to read the Bible is to connect its themes to their passions. By showing them how the Bible relates to their interests, such as family, friends, church, or sports, they will become more confident in seeking answers from it. It is essential to demonstrate that the Bible is still relevant and essential for all our lives.

As leaders, we must model our own personal desire for reading the Bible. Young people look up to us, and they will notice if we have an active relationship with the Bible. Being honest with them about the challenges of reading the Bible and how it has guided and shaped our lives can inspire them to find out more.

In youth sessions, it is crucial to show young people how to read the Bible. Some may have never opened a Bible before, so we must teach them how to find passages, explain the Old and New Testaments, and get them familiar with the contents page. Modelling a Bible study is a great way to help them open up the text in a safe and welcoming environment. By preparing questions in advance that will get them talking and discussing passages, we can encourage them to apply the Bible to their own lives.

Mentoring young people as they read the Bible is also essential. By finding opportunities to meet up and read the Bible together, we can develop relationships and hold each other accountable. It is crucial to create a culture where it is normal to ask one another how reading the Bible is going and pray for one another.

In conclusion, if young people can develop a relationship with the Bible, they can grow in their personal relationship with God, learn how to hear God’s voice, engage with the teachings of the Bible, and live life to the full. As leaders, it is our responsibility to help young people read God’s word, and we can do this by connecting its themes to their passions, modelling our own desire for reading the Bible, showing them how to read the Bible, and mentoring them as they read it.
